Blythe Bridge Primary Care Centre
Blythe Bridge Primary Care Centre is a purpose-built facility designed to increase access to medical services for the residents of Blythe Bridge and surrounding areas, enabling more community services to be provided closer to patients’ homes.
The centre replaces the branch surgery of Dr Pilpel and Partners, with the £1.3m capital-funded project managed by Prima 200 and owned by NHS North Staffordshire. The new medical centre includes three GP consulting rooms, one practice nurse treatment room and accommodation for the practice to assist in the training of future GPs. In addition, NHS North Staffordshire has a multi-purpose room which holds healthy living and baby clinics, health education and exercise classes, as well as district nurse treatment clinics.
Using Prima 200’s full range of services to overcome challenges
The required centre was only 433 sqm but the site chosen was liable to flooding and so presented a number of land related challenges. The Prima 200 team was also keen to involve local residents and the wider community throughout the development as the land identified was directly behind the village hall car park. In addition to carrying out detailed flood assessments, as well as site appraisals, Prima 200’s Communications and Engagement team worked closely with the client, practice and local community, including Blythe Bridge & Forsbrook Hall Committee to ensure they were an integral part of the design and development process. As a result of the consultation, the health centre development also included expansion and improvement of the village hall car park.RELATED ITEMS:
