Capital project management: Blythe Bridge Primary Care Centre

Brief

To deliver a purpose-built new primary care centre, with its own car park, to replace the existing branch surgery. The new centre should be a great asset to the area, designed to increase local access to medical services and community services.

Challenges

Specific size of building. Site liable to flooding.

Solution

Full site assessments carried out, including flood assessments. The new 433 sq m building stands at a height not at risk of flooding.

Worked closely with the client, practice and community, including Blythe Bridge & Forsbrook Hall Committee to ensure involvement and progress throughout the design and development process.

The new building operates on a site behind the village hall and shares its car park. The development included expanding and improving the village hall’s car park.

Inside, the centre has three GP consulting rooms and treatment rooms as well as a multi-purpose room used for larger group activities such as baby clinics, health education and exercise classes.
